Lars Huser

Lars Huser played football, drank beer, played guitar (badly) and got a First Class Degree at Heriot Watt University.

This was also where he bumped into Alastair Hook leading out the famous Heriot Watt FC 3rd XI.

Lars' passion for beer was honed by defecting from the Football Club's regular haunt The Last Drop on the Grassmarket where most of the Football Club drank bad lager to the nearby Globe offering Timothy Taylor's Landlord while Tam White and the Dexters played upbeat Rhythm & Blues. Alastair and his 3rd XI goslings where also part of this band of "mutineers". Lars was by this time a 1st team regular on the descent.

Armed with spreadsheets Lars worked as Financial Controller for a Norwegian cement importer in Nigeria, an offshore engineering company and then for Sports at TV2 Norway for 6 years. This job got him in gratis to any football match in the world while he had to ask for new versions of spreadsheets that accommodated the price hikes on new football TV deals.

He also found time to start a publishing company specialising in travel guides. One publication Planet Fotball required frequent trips to the UK and Lars saw around 25 Arsenal matches during the 98/99 season travelling from Norway. This couldn't go on for long so having kept in touch with Alastair over the years they, along with Ben Joseph and support from friends and family, decided to start a brewery in Charlton.
